Are you as excited as we are about the 1xOne art gallery in Grahamstown? I Love Grahamstown attended the opening last Friday and we are thrilled with what Tori and Craig Stowe, Louise Poole and their fellow creatives have done with the space. This new creative space in the heart of Grahamstown has opened with a group art exhibition featuring 20 professional South African artists. Each artist has been allocated a 1 x 1m space to curate as they wish – an area to extend their creativity. Curated by Tori Stowe, the line-up includes: Andrea Rolfes, Andrew Lovell, Ann Marie Tully, Charmaine Haines, Claire Regnard, Clare Menck, Lisa Nettleton, Mariaan Kotze, Michaela Rinaldi, Pascale Chandler, Peter Woodbridge, Riaan van Zyl, Richard Pullen, Rob Foote, Sarah Pratt, Terry Angelos, Tori Stowe and Vanessa Brewer. Just add coffee, which is brewing already, and it’s destined to become the new creative hub of Grahamstown.
Throw into the mix The Corner Grahamstown, which is a mini version of the Bathurst store, with a display of their favourite brands – Stowe & So, Molo Mimi, Kuku Craft, Noluziso Weavers, Sandra Pelser and… Tori Stowe has designed a range of new stuff just for Grahamstown – and you can do your gift shopping while you browse the beautiful works on display.
1xOne will be open daily between 9 and 5, for the duration of the National Arts Festival at 38 Somerset Street. Connie Fulatela will be managing the Stowe’s Grahamstown shop full time while Gladys Manyati will run their Bathurst shop.
