WHAT IS DESIGN ARDOUR AND WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
What is different?
Design Ardour is me as a whole, including my love of art, images and inspirational words. It is also a statement that my children are very much a part of the way I work and think – they are the reason I do not have an office job, they are the reason I work late and can’t always make play dates, they are the reason I agree upon deadlines that work for my schedule too.
Design Ardour means finally saying yes to positive changes and like-minded clients. It is also my realisation that I can say no to projects that don’t ring true with my personal and business ethos. Design Ardour means working with clients who know what value I will bring to their business and who are happy to work side by side with me and want to invest in a professional working relationship of honour, respect and acceptance … cos you know … I am passionate about my work. I am a lot about what I create!
Meryl Streep recently brought to our attention the powerful writing of José Micard Teixeira, who said it best when he wrote his piece titled ‘I no longer …’
You rebranded. So what!
For those who haven’t followed the rebranding process, in a nutshell here’s why I opened my sails in the winds of change …
It was a dark and stormy night … Kidding!
I have freelanced for much of my career and started an ‘official’ design business called Creatives on Click about 6 years ago. Creatives on Click was a client based design company and I needed an outlet for my more personal design projects, so I created a second business called La Cüsh. For a while this worked really well, but I found my focus shifting between the two as one was busier. And as you know, designers are their own worst critics so I felt that if I couldn’t give them both 100% then I needed to kill one, so I said goodbye to La Cüsh for a while … sad!
Eventually this decision became too much like a hole in my soul. I had to fix it. I had to make myself whole.
It took almost a year of internal tumultuous back and forth before I listened to my inner voice pleading and took the necessary next (BIG) step; meshing all my creative bits together and adding more … hence the birth of Design Ardour.

Hi Jen,
Thanks for using my meme and crediting me. Thanks also for the correction in credit of the words, at the time of posting it on FB it went viral so fast I wasn’t able to edit or update the credentials to mention José as I was block from doing so. As a footnote, since my name is on the image, please mention that an edit / update in rectifying the credit was attempted, but not allowed after it went viral.
Thank you and much appreciated.
